THE PREMISE

Say Versus Do

Surveys tell you what physicians believe about their own behavior. They are honest, but memory and intention are not the same as action. This year, we set each survey answer beside a behavioral signal: HealthLink Dimensions' own email engagement data, paired with programmatic measurement from our partner DeepIntent across verified clinicians. Together they form the 'Do' layer beside the survey's 'Say.' It carries weight because it is measured behavior, first-party and partner-verified, not a claim about intent.

HOW TO READ EACH FINDING

A behavioral reading exists in our data and confirms or counters the survey.

The survey itself reveals the gap; no behavioral overlay is needed.

Gain key insights from real world survey and engagement data to better inform your marketing campaigns.

FINDING 1

Do physicians read what you send?

What physicians say they do with a relevant message

Bar chart of survey responses on handling a relevant message: 54% review it immediately, 24% save it for later, 6% ignore it.

When physicians open: a fast spike, then a delayed second wave

Share of all opens by time-since-send   ·   ~2.4M opens

Line chart of share of all opens by time since send, based on about 2.4 million opens. About 14% of opens occur within 15 minutes (the peak), falling to roughly 8% at 30 minutes, 5% at 1 hour, and 3% at 2 hours. A second wave rises to about 8% at 8 to 16 hours, then declines through 24 hours, 7 days, and 10 days (about 1%).

Gap rating for Finding 1: Aligned. Physician claims and measured email behavior match.

FINDING 2

How often do physicians want to hear from your brand?

Stated appetite for contact

Column chart of how often physicians say they want to hear from a brand: weekly 32.3%, monthly 25.1%, twice per month 19.1%, quarterly 15.2%, rarely or never 8.4%.

No fatigue as frequency climbs

Click-through rate by ad frequency ·  no decline point ·  exposures per physician

Line chart of click-through rate by ad frequency (1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 10, and 15 or more exposures per physician). The line stays flat, showing no fatigue or decline point as frequency increases.

Gap rating for Finding 2: Wide. Physician claims and measured behavior diverge sharply.

FINDING 3

When are they actually paying attention?

When physicians say they are most receptive

Column chart of when physicians say they are most receptive: late afternoon 3 to 6 pm 21.5%, mid-morning 8 am to 12 pm 20.8%, early afternoon 12 to 3 pm 20.5%, evening after 6 pm 20.3%, early morning before 8 am 16.9%. Nearly flat across the day.

Hour of open contradicts the flat-day claim

Share of all opens by hour (EDT, approximate) · dashed line = the flat ~4.2%/hr physicians describe

Bar chart of share of all email opens by hour of day (EDT, approximate) with a dashed line at the flat 4.2% per hour physicians describe. Opens peak from 8 am to 11 am, highest around 9 to 10 am and well above the line. Midday stays near or above the line, then afternoon and evening fall below it, with the lowest hours overnight around 3 to 4 am.

Opens cluster Tuesday-Thursday | 62% of the week's opens

Column chart of share of weekly opens by day: Monday 13%, Tuesday 21%, Wednesday 19%, Thursday 23%, Friday 15%, Saturday 6%, Sunday 3%. Tuesday through Thursday account for 62% of opens.

Gap rating for Finding 3: Wide. Physician claims and measured behavior diverge sharply.

FINDING 4

What content actually earns engagement?

What physicians value does not predict what they open

Each dot is a content type · survey value (x) vs. actual median open rate (y)

Scatter plot comparing the share of physicians who say they value each content type (x-axis, 20% to 45%) with its actual median open rate (y-axis, 10% to 20%). Interactive demos have the lowest stated value (about 26%) but highest opens (about 18.6%). CME and events: about 27% value, 17.3% opens. Industry news: about 40% value, about 16.6% opens. Real-world evidence: about 37% value, about 15.5% opens. Product and prescribing: about 33% value, about 14% opens. Cost and coverage: about 36% value, about 13% opens. Clinical and science content has the highest stated value (40%) but one of the lowest open rates (13.4%).

Gap rating for Finding 4: Wide. Physician claims and measured behavior diverge sharply.

FINDING 5

Where do they actually go for information and how do they get there?

Stated first stop for clinical information

% naming each as their primary destination

Bar chart of the primary destination physicians name for clinical information: association sites and journals 39%, point-of-care references 28%, manufacturer-owned sites 15%.

How HCPs reach brand sites is shifting

Year-over-year change in referral share · ~1.6M HCP site visits

Diverging bar chart of year-over-year change in referral share across about 1.6 million HCP site visits: AI referral +81%, social +77.5%, digital media +6.4%, email -8.0%, paid search -22.9%. Paid search still drives about 47% of brand-site arrivals.

Paid search still drives ~47% of brand-site arrivals today, but it is declining while AI-referred and social visits climb.

Gap rating for Finding 5: Medium. Physician claims and measured behavior partly diverge.

THE GAP MAP

Every claim, plotted

We sorted all eight findings by the size of the gap between what physicians say and what they actually do: from the widest divergences down to the places where claim and behavior line up.

THE FRAME

What physicians say is a loud claim, not a proven behavior. The gap between the two is exactly where this report does its work.
